financial skills needed for personal and business activities.

Prerequisite: None
This course will introduce students to accounting basics and guide them in
their understanding of the accounting cycle and its relation to the business
world. Topics and skills to be explored will be accounting for a service
business organized as a proprietorship and accounting for a merchandising
business organized as a partnership.
Corporate Accounting (1/2 Credit, Elective for grades 11-12)
Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or better in Accounting I.
In this course students will be guided to understand the complete accounting
cycle for a merchandising business organized as a corporation. New topics
introduced will include: discounts, returns and allowances, payroll,
uncollectible accounts, accounts receivable, plant assets and depreciation,
notes and interest and accrued items.
Personal Finance (1/2 Credit, Elective for grades 11-12)
Prerequisite: None
This course will explore topics of interest that will enhance students' future
financial decision-making. Topics to be discussed include: career planning,
money management, financial security and credit management. Students will
participate in stock market simulations and other computer related activities.
